Description: GROTRIAN PIANO CO., Est. 1835, as a small piano manufacturing company by Heinrich Engelhard Steinweg and then passed to his son Theodor Steinweg. Georg Friedrich Karl Grotrian, entered the company as a partner in 1854. G. F. K. Grotrian was born in 1803, in Sch6ningen near Braunschweig, Germany. As early as 1830 G. F. K. Grotrian operated a music business that also built and sold pianos in Moscow.Modern Grotrian-Steinweg pianos are rated by Larry Fine as Grade 1A, among the highest quality and satisfaction, on par with Hamburg Steinways, Faziolis and Bösendorfers. The treble of Grotrian pianos has extraordinary sustaining characteristics. It also has a pronounced sound of attack, subtle and delicate. The tenor is darker than many other brands. The bass can be powerful, but without stridency. Overall, Grotrian pianos have a unique, expressive sound and are a pleasure to play.
